EATING

This area of Gloucestershire is home to some of the UK’s finest local food producers and at The Old Elm Inn we like to make the most of these home-grown ingredients.

We are very proud to use only locally sourced produce and use local suppliers of meat, fish, dairy, fresh vegetables and dry goods. Our kitchen team is headed by Tom Maszlag and Matt Hall who receive daily deliveries and prepare this local produce in our fabulous kitchen

We have seating for over 100 people in the Chosen Room and Bar area and serve our main menu every day 12 noon to 10pm, but it is still advisable to reserve a table at peak times ie: Sunday lunch and late afternoon when roasts are available alongside our main menu until 10pm, all day Saturdays, Friday evenings and Thursday Quiz Nights.

We offer an extra special 5 course wine and food matching menu on the first Saturday of each month for which booking in advance is essential

DRINKING

We are proud to have been included in the independently judged CAMRA Good Beer Guide since our first year of opening and every year since. We always have local breweries heavily represented. I have visited many places in the area for Sunday lunch, but I can honestly say after visiting The Old Elm in Churchdown earlier today, this has to be one of the best, I had the mixed roast, very reasonable price, and exceptional value for money, followed by Tiramisu again exceptional, at gem in the heart of Churchdown

Just what the village has been lacking for such a long time. A good selection of beers and great food in a lovely atmosphere, One of the best steak pies I’ve had which was confirmed by 2 other people in our group who had the same. Only 2 of our party had a roast that was huge and recommended by them- good to see a choice of meals on a Sunday when I didn’t fancy a roast. Very friendly service means I will continue to be a regular visitor

Great pizzas guys, delivered on time, hot and so good- my son said the gluten free pizza was the best he's ever had!

Laine Lewis

Absolutely scrummy roast this afternoon. Beautifully cooked and tonnes of gravy! Efficient and friendly service as ever. Thanks guys xx

Julie Price

Absolutely fantastic roast dinner tonight at The Old Elm! Great food. Excellent service. Wonderful Mothers Day treat. Thanks guys!

Joshua Schofield

Absolutely wonderful meal, starter of Baked Camembert and main of 12oz Sirloin. Incredibly generous portions and I certainly did not leave until I had finished every last bit! Highly recommend for a pub lunch / dinner. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. Will definitely be going again.

Michael G

A Lovely Village feel to the Pub with grand views of Chosen Hill very good Ale selection

Family Hands

Great staff great prices and a really cool place for a nice summer pint

Kali

Good meal, great service.

Called in on the off chance, we were made to feel very welcome and good advice given about where to sit- not in bar where football was about to start. Opted for dining room and waitress service. Service was quick and attentive. My partner rated the steak as best had in a long time, my chicken wrapped in pancetta was equally good. Vegetables cooked well, not overlooked. The sticky toffee pudding could have had more toffee sauce, custard lovely. Overall a very enjoyable evening- recommend it.

Julie A

Really great find thanks to trip advisor. First impression seemed like a chain pub, but it definitely isn’t. Really good homemade pub food, chunky chips perfect. Good atmosphere, and seemed to be a well loved local pub with dinning and cosy places. Also board games if you want to make a night of it

Sam R

Fish and Chips
were fantastic!

Lee Sutton

Great beer and food. Specials are always lovely and the deal nights are a treat.
They also have a pub quiz and live music. Recently they have started a cinema night too.
Very friendly atmosphere and a pokestop too.

Annie P

We will definitely be ordering again and will recommend to our friends and family.

Brad J

Loopidee

Excellent menu, great atmosphere. Was lucky enough to stay here for a couple of nights and found the bedrooms clean, bright, airy.

David Kidgell

Good range of beers, wines and spirits. The food is excellent, great pub. I would highly recommend.

Stephen Mockford

Vegan, ate on new years eve when the staff were of course very busy - they couldn't have been more helpful in making sure that our choices were actually vegan. Super staff, top service and smashing food - thank you.

Dave J

Where to begin. From the moment we arrived on Wednesday until the moment we left today (Saturday) we have been treated like one of the family. Matt, Sarah and the team have been brilliant. The accommodation was first class, the meals beyond excellent. This pub is the beating heart of Churchdown Village.
Good luck with the turning on of the pubs Christmas Lights on Sunday and with all the many events you have planned over the festive period, we only wish we could be there to share the fun with you all
Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year to you all

Peter Toth

Enjoy an evening drink here once in a while. Pub quiz on Thursday's

Robert L

Thank you so much for our amazing roast beef dinners yesterday. Miss being able to come over to my favourite place to eat. But the food was just like having it with you.

David M

Popular on a Saturday evening. Busy and lively. Bar service was very good (food & drink). Too noisy for me though; sport on big screen, music via speakers and therefore high volume of conversations.

Zee

Lovely homely pub. Food was amazing with great service.. will definitely eat here again.

Steven R

15 of us for a birthday lunch. Food all arrived at same time. My steak pie very good, everyone else seemed happy enough. Staff all helpful and friendly. Excellent selection of beers.

Chris Nyland

Had a lovely meal, and always first class service!

Aaron Matthews

Lovely place. Very nice staff. Incredible food. Need I say more.

Nicola J

Thank you to all the team for a wonderful night, the food was outstanding and the service second to none. The Jackson family will definitely be coming again for the fantastic atmosphere, wonderful food and outstanding service.

Mark F

First visit here with family as we've been told the menu had a good selection of veggie meals and indeed it does. A great venue with friendly and chatty staff and a place where the owners have clearly made an effort to keep the customers entertained and spoiled for choice.
Well presented and comfortable venue which has two distinct areas: the calm quiet area for the people looking for a relaxed meal or pint and a chat and the louder area for the groups and customers looking for a more lively atmosphere. The latter is where our group were positioned. The area had a smaller screen showing the football plus there was a second, larger screen further round the bar, better for the sports fans there to see the game. There seemed to be events or special activities planned every night of the week (picture included). There was a play area for kids and little table top toys for very little ones to keep them entertained for 5 minutes. There was a corner piled up with board games too but it was a pity the previous clientele had lost pieces or vandalized the contents with rude drawings ☹.
Great selection of ales on offer which was a real plus for me. In addition, CAMRA members get 10% off their beers. Menu was good with a nice choice of meals including kids choices. The food was lovely and good value so felt very satisfied

Straw

Food choice and quality was amazing, friendly staff and a range of seating options (bar, restaurant, cosy sofa) outdoor area looked lovely and had large wooden play area will definately be returning in nicer weather

Sally D

Brilliant delivery service, always hot and on time

Danny H

Nice large pub with good beers. They offer a discount for camra members. The atmosphere was nice and the staff friendly. I went for a work Christmas meal, which was very nice. They have events on every night, which looks good.

Robyn W

I had your fajitas last night. It was delicious

Brendan G

Great staff, fantastic food. Had a mixed roast but for the price the food was out of this world. More than happy to alter the table to outside as a lovely day and my mother tried the jacket potato with spaghetti bolognese which she really enjoyed. No room for puddings unfortunately. But a wonderful experience and will difinatly go again to try there legendary 18 oz t bone steak

Alisa R

No words describe how good your fish platter was! Arrived very hot and now left with full bellies

Edwards S

We had a party of 7 and had to sit in the bar as the restaurant was closed for a function. So it was crowded and noisy.
They have seats at the bar which make it almost impossible to get to it to place orders and obtain drinks.
But once we overcame that obstacle the food was very good. We had leek and chicken pies, steak and fish and children's jacket potatoes. All very good.
No wine list so they offered wine by types - and Sauvignon turned out to be a fantastic Oyster Bay so why not list the wines or put them on a board by name?
Would definitely recommend - we were staying at Holiday Inn and it was short drive/taxi away but worth it.

Robin P

Good selection of real cask bitters. Good and reasonably priced menu. Enjoyed the meal and the beer. Friendly atmosphere. Recommended.
